I’m an accomplished and experienced guitarist and guitar teacher, proficient in all styles of contemporary guitar.  I hold an LLCM and FLCM in Electric Guitar Performance from the University of West London (UK), and enjoy a performance career as a soloist as well as a member of progressive metal band Expain.  I picked up the guitar in my early teens through a high school elective course, and after discovering hard rock bands with a focus on guitar, I knew that was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.  A decade and a half and tens of thousands of hours of study and practice later, it’s with immeasurable pride that I’m recognized as a legitimate guitar educator.

I released my first ever solo album in the Winter of 2016,  to critical acclaim and comparisons to many modern virtuoso players.  It was an incredible feeling to see Prog Sphere magazine herald the album as “proof that Matt could play alongside the world’s greatest in shred guitar.”  2018-2019 promises to bring lots of new things from my corner, including new instrumental music, new music and tours with Expain, and more instructional content.  Check out a couple of fun videos of my guitar playing further down the page, and watch this space for updates!

Composing, performing, and teaching music are all a tie for me as the pursuits in life that I’m most passionate about, and one of the greatest feelings I experience as a teacher is igniting that same fire in my students.  Although my teaching style is results-oriented, my philosophy is to keep things fun and light at all times, to keep that fire and motivation alive.  Running my own teaching practise has been an incredibly fulfilling way of adding value to my community, and an absolute dream come true.
